The Embroidery Project Plan

The up side of this vast collection of information and ideas called the Internet is that inspiration can strike at just about any moment. The down side is that rarely, if ever, the creative process is so short that we can mentally keep up with all of the things we want to make and create.

I have had times where I bought a few different colours of embroidery floss for different projects and then when I sat down a couple of weeks later to finally start embroidering, I forgot which colours were for which projects. Or alternatively, forgetting how many threads I had decided on using and having to recount them on the half that I had already embroidered. All in all, it takes me quite some time to figure out what I was planning on doing when picking up a project after a while. Especially when I made the pattern myself and it technically isnt much of a pattern and more like a bunch of ideas scattered on the few loose pages of paper I could find.

In the process of trying to find some common thread amongst my projects. I made and improved the Embroidery Project Plan to what it is now. This form is what I have used for a few projects and everytime I pick up a project after not working on it for a while, I feel relieved to have taken the time to write down a few basic things.

The Embroidery Plan includes a space for a small drawing or inspiration photo, a progress tracker for the different phases in your creative process as well as a logbook on the second page for keeping track of what you did and when.

Whether you simply want to organize your current projects or you are looking for something to help you plan your very own ones, I hope this embroidery plan will help you in your efforts. I have included a Word version of the document, in case you want to make any changes to it.

Time to make something beautiful, dear stitcher.
